Data Model in BI Publisher Fails to Save With Error "Failed to Save Data Model" (Doc ID 2173333.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to save a data model or save as sample data, the following error occurs.

ERRORS
"Failed to load servlet/res?s=<user info>-<report name>.xdm$desc=undefined&_sTkn=e446ab561568eb0d8ca."

"Failed to save data model."

STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Edit Data Model
  2. Click “Data” tab
  3. Select Date
  4. Click View
  5. Click “Save As Sample Data”

BUSINESS IMPACT
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot save sample data or data model changes.
