Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle Financial Services Balance Sheet Planning (BSP) 8.0.x, if you create a large Time Bucket with 220 Buckets and run a Calculate, the following error is output to FSI_BSP_PROCESS_LOG during the step "CREATION OF VW_RES_DTL":

[MSG - FATAL] :ERROR OCCOURED WHILE CREATING VW_RES_DTL ORA :ERR ORA-06502: PL/SQL: NUMERIC OR VALUE ERROR: CHARACTER STRING BUFFER TOO SMALL

If you reduce the quantity of buckets to 140, you get a new error in FSI_BSP_PROCESS_LOG:

[MSG - FATAL] :ERROR OCCOURED WHILE CREATING VW_RES_DTL ORA :ERR ORA-00904: "BUCKET_0137": INVALID IDENTIFIER

As a result of these errors, the cash flow engine fails and no results are output.

You expect BSP to allow up to 240 buckets.
