EmptyStackException Received When Search is Performed

After upgrading to Oracle Commerce 11.2, when testing the storefront application, a search results in the error, reported below.

at java.util.Stack.peek(Stack.java:102) [rt.jar:1.8.0_101]
at com.endeca.content.ContentExceptionFactory.makeExceptionPrefix(ContentExceptionFactory.java:154)


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Migrate to Oracle Commerce 11.2
2. Navigate to the Storefront application.
3. Attempt to search.
4. See the error reported in the logging.

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot search on the application store front.
