Null Pointer Exception on Processing Business Interaction if a Char is Removed from Specification

Consider a Business Interaction (BI) with Char A. Create BI & before processing update the specification to remove Char A. Redeploy the cartridge for the changes to take effect.
Now process the BI & you will receive the following error:
