Null Pointer Exception on Processing Business Interaction if a Char is Removed from Specification (Doc ID 2191550.1)

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Consider a Business Interaction (BI) with Char A. Create BI & before processing update the specification to remove Char A. Redeploy the cartridge for the changes to take effect.
Now process the BI & you will receive the following error:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.communications.inventory.api.characteristic.impl.CharacteristicManagerImpl.validate(CharacteristicManagerImpl.java:1392)
at oracle.communications.inventory.api.characteristic.impl.CharacteristicManagerImpl.validate(CharacteristicManagerImpl.java:1492)
at oracle.communications.inventory.api.common.BaseInvManager.validate(BaseInvManager.java:690)
at oracle.communications.inventory.api.common.BaseInvManager.updateEntity(BaseInvManager.java:647)
at oracle.communications.inventory.api.businessinteraction.impl.BusinessInteractionManagerImpl.addChildBusinessInteraction(BusinessInteractionManagerImpl.java:1332)
at oracle.communications.inventory.api.businessinteraction.impl.BusinessInteractionManagerImpl.addChildBusinessInteraction_aroundBody6(BusinessInteractionManagerImpl.java:1294)
at oracle.communications.inventory.api.businessinteraction.impl.BusinessInteractionManagerImpl$AjcClosure7.run(BusinessInteractionManagerImpl.java:1)
