Primavera Gateway Custom Step Fails with "Class Not Found" or "java.lang.Nullpointerexception" Error (Doc ID 2194178.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to run a synchronization in Primavera Gateway that contains a custom step, the following errors occur.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Run the Gateway-Configuration tool
2. Remove the existing customization
3. Run the Gateway-Configuration tool again
4. Add the modified customization
5. Redeploy the gateway.ear
6. Error occurs when running the synchronization with the customization step.
