For Return to Warehouse, SIM Sends SI SOStatus Message Instead of CR Message (Doc ID 2204416.1)

Last updated on JULY 03, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management - Version 14.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management (SIM), the message sent from SIM to Oracle Retail Merchandising System (RMS) when a return to warehouse request is created contains <status>SI</status> instead of <status>CR</status>.  Whenever a transfer is created by the store, then SIM should be sending a 'CR' and not 'SI' message. 'SI' should be sent for any subsequent updates to the already created transfer.

An issue can occur when the store sends an SOStatus message for a new outbound transfer, followed by an ASNOut message for the same transfer.  RMS assumes that the SOStatus message should be processed first; however, as these are different message families, the Oracle Retail Integration Bus (RIB) does not guarantee the order of processing, so in some cases the ASNOut message will be processed first.

If this happens, then the transfer quantity will be doubled, because the SOStatus message will be interpreted as an increase in the quantity.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Shipping/Receiving.
  2. Returns.
  3. Create.
  4. Return Type: Warehouse
      Warehouse: 2 - N. America Central
      Reason: Externally Initiated
      Quantity: 2
  5. Dispatch.
  6. Check the 'SOStatusCre' message created:

Note the <status>SI</status> instead of <status>CR</status> as expected.
