Is It Possible To Create Two Separate Items, In A Single Hierarchy, With The Same EAN Number?

Will RMS accommodate two different items (SKU) with the same EAN number in single hierarchy, or will the system prevent the creation of an item if the EAN number already exists?

For example, all Lipstick is sold in both the department store chain, as well as the cosmetics store chain. This product has the same EAN and supplier, but is planned in MFP (by range code) and AP (by SKU) by different planning teams and sold through different chains. The product may have different selling prices as well as different promotional and markdown strategies.
