Messages are not getting removed even thou deleted from mail client (Doc ID 2226174.1)

Symptoms

Some messages are still present in the filesystem, whereas they were deleted from the mail client and do not appear in the mailbox resume
A mailbox containing 50 messages, deleting 20 messages in mail client then new list shows 30 messages where as the size on the filesystem seems to be unchanged
