Validations for Entity Link Reference Drop Down Characteristics (Doc ID 2228556.1)

Goal

We have created one Specification ("A") with a drop-down custom characteristic ("C"), which is fed by an Entity Link from other Specification ("B").

My understanding is that in the UI makes the validation by only displaying in "C", the values from "B". This means that there is a validation in the UI.

Now, the question is related to web services. If there is a WS request to create/update "A", and a value is given to "C" in the xml request, is there any kind of validation?
