Last updated on DECEMBER 07, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Commerce Platform - Version 11.2 and later
Oracle Commerce Guided Search / Oracle Commerce Experience Manager - Version 11.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 11.2 Endeca Application Deployment and Configuration

The Experience Manager Save & Preview Button Does Not Show Unpublished Workspace Changes.

If a business user makes changes on an Experience Manager content item, then clicks "Save and Preview", the new changes are not shown in the preview panel.

If the workspace is published, the changes become previewable.

Note, this is referring to the Experience Manager 11.2 "Publish" button, near the top of the screen. It is not referring to a promote_content.

Expected Behavior

Business users can edit pages and content in Experience Manager, then click Save and Preview, and immediately see the changes.

They should also be able to use the preview application's audit functionality to see when, why, and how the content triggers.

Reproduction Steps

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Set up Endeca preview enviornment per Oracle Commerce Preview Environment Best Practices White Paper (Doc ID 2045245.1).
  2. Navigate to Experience Manager
  3. Edit content. For example, add a Rich Text field at the top of a page that says "Preview Environment"
  4. Click Save & Preview
  5. See no rich text on the displayed page.
  6. Click Publish, near the top of the page.
  7. Click Preview, and now the changes are available.

Business Impact

Due to this issue, users cannot utilize the new Experience Manager workspace functionality effectively.

The expectation is that business users and their management may be able to review and audit the changes in a local preview panel, before publishing them to the authoring assembler.

Changes
