Studio 3.2 Windows Service Fails To Start Due To JVM Using The "XX:+UseSpinning" Parameter (Doc ID 2232576.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 10, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Endeca Information Discovery Studio - Version 3.2.0 to 3.2.0 [Release 3.x]
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) - Version: 2008 R2

Goal

The commEnv-studio.cmd script was created accordingly to the the Studio Installation Guide -> Installing Studio on Oracle WebLogic Server 12cR1 (12.1.3) -> Creating a Windows service for your Studio WebLogic domain

As per the related documentation, the "-XX:+UseSpinning" parameter should be used.

But starting Studio through a windows service on Windows 2012 R2 Enterprise OS fails specifically due to "XX:+UseSpinning" parameter.

The Studio windows service starts successfully after removing this parameter from related script (commEnv-studio.cmd) and reinstalling the windows service.

Why is this happening?
