Agile Engineering Data Management (EDM) Server Processes Not Automatically Ended on HP-UX and AIX Operating Systems Leaving Orphaned Processes
(Doc ID 2236024.1)
Last updated on MARCH 03, 2019
Applies to:Oracle Agile Engineering Data Management - Version 188.8.131.52 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
On HP-UX and AIX servers, only the DaemonController (Plugin.Daemon.load=true) seems to appear fine.
Start a javaclient and connect to the "DaemonController", start a second JavaClient. Kill the client process and watch the process in the DaemonController. In counting the "axalant" processes, the process disappears from the DeamonController list.
However, the process is still running on the server and has not been closed at all. The server process must be killed manually.
There should not be any orphaned processes on the server.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Kill a client process on the client.
2. Watch the Daemon Controller count this "axalant" process down to 0 & exit (i.e. this process disappears from the DeamonController list).
3. However, the process is still running on the server, it has not been closed at all and needs to be manually killed.
