Sending "DisplayOrder" Dimension Info From ATG Causes dval_ranks.xml Settings to Override Dynamic Ranking (Alpha) Dimension Value Sorting in Endeca (Doc ID 2242821.1)

In an ATG + Endeca integration, when attempting to use Dynamic Ranking (Alpha) to sort dimension values, the order of dimension values returned is not alphabetical. Dynamic Ranking using "Frequency" is working correctly however, so the issue seems to be related to "Alpha" dynamic ranking only.

For example, given the following query, the entry "bordada" appears further down the list than it should if it was ranked dynamically, alphabetically:

Note, there is a "bordada" dimension value listed as the last value in the cas_output/[app].dval_ranks.xml file. If Dynamic Ranking is enabled, the expectation is that it should override the default setting found in dval_ranks.xml, but this is not happening.  Why is it not?
