Convergence failed attachment upload - Mail Service: Stream ended unexpectedly (Doc ID 2252892.1)

Oracle Communications Convergence - Version 3.0.1 and later
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Symptoms

End user logs into Convergence, selects the mail tab, composes a new message then attaches a file.  While the file upload is in progress, the user will randomly receive the following pop-up message in the Convergence GUI: "The mail service is not available. Please try again later."

The Convergence iwc.log will show the following information:
