Customer is looking for a way to set the timeout for a workflow that has a stored procedure step and fails due to a legitimate error

Customer had a situation that one of the settlement with split had a value with 257 characters on one of the field and the workflow returned with the following error.
FATAL workflow.general: ORA-12899: value too large for column "DEMANTRA"."CSTM_TPR_DEDUCTION_BRAND"."SETTLEMENTKEY" (actual: 257, maximum: 255)

The above was a legitimate error

The issue was that the Workflow has Recovery option as Abort but did not terminate the workflow. Instead it took 3 hours to terminate. Is there a way to set the workflow configuration on timeout to end the workflow step within 5 minutes or as soon as the step fails.
