How Can Diameter Gateway Send Request Using Cumulative Accounting Mode? (Doc ID 2268760.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 26, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Communications BRM - Elastic Charging Engine - Version 11.3.0.2.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

On : 11.3.0.2.0 version, Diameter Gateway

In a scenario, CAMEL protocol is being used in the current Policy Charging & Control system. CAMEL is currently managing usage requests within Cumulative mode.
To migrate to ECE and DGW, a mediation layer is used to convert from CAMEL requests to DIAMETER.

According to ECE/DGW documentation, ECE supports incremental and cumulative based accounting behavior when processing usage requests. However, the Diameter Gateway uses incremental based accounting only. This can cause some difficulties to telecom operators to migrate from the current online mediation system to the DGW, as most are using usage requests with cumulative mode.

Queries:
1. Why does DGW only support Incremental mode while ECE can work with both ?
2. How to customize the DGW to send requests to ECE with Cumulative accounting mode ?
