On : 12.2.4 version, Constrained planning in Production
Users are on 12.2.4 and have applied VCP Cum Patch 220.127.116.11 - 19549533 - using 64 bit Linux MBP with one off patch 25202143 using version MSONWL64.ppc 120.15.12020000.58.1220402.3 - Also using 64 bit Linux Snapshot MSCNPL64.ppc 120.11.12020000.11.1202040.5 from one off patch 20889051 - They also have beta fixes from the following bugs for MSONWL64.exe:
Users are running EDD Constrained without detailed scheduling ASCP plan. They see an issue where end item substitution (EIS) between two revisions generates early planned orders when safety stock is used. Example data:
Item = 41156-04 item id = 50004
Item = 41156-05 item id = 218022
Org = MAS:IC1 org id = 2808
SS is ONLY setup on the -05 item
SS Method = MRP Planned %
Bucket days = 91
SS % = 9100
Item = 41156-04 -->41156-05 (successor 01-APR-2017)
-04 has on hand 213428 and this is used to satisfy demands until exhausted in 01-JUL-2017 period - no issue so far
-05 once on hand exhausted, demand then correctly moves to the -05 in 01-JUL-2017 period - no issue so far
It appears in the 01-MAY-2017 bucket planned orders total = 133,778 for the -05 item. PAB in this bucket is 133778 and SS = 177,789 - now looking at PAB for -04 it shows 96465. So combined PAB for the -04 and -05 for 01-MAY-2017 period = 230243 vs SS = 177789 so we're significantly above SS (by qty = 52454). Also note it is completely corrected by 01-JUL-2017 bucket.
The early planned orders are as follows:
Item = 41156-05 Planned order qty = 61741 due 02-MAY-2017 - trans id = 79140323
Item = 41156-05 Planned order qty = 72037 due 01-JUN-2017 - trans id = 79140324
So far they've only found 1 item with this issue
Planned Order Qty (Latest Effective Version)= Gross Requirement (Latest Effective Version) + Safety Stock Demand (Latest Effective Version) - PAB (of all previous versions)
If PAB on previous version is higher than Safety Stock demand on latest version then there should be no planned order
Engine should be looking into previous versions of PAB in Demand org considering the point that there might be supply sitting in Supply chain orgs.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Run EDD Constrained without Detailed Scheduling plan
2. Review supply demand output in the ASCP workbench
3. See EIS items with early planned orders driving PAB well above SS
