Extending WebLogic Domain for Oracle SOA Suite with SQL Server for use with Documaker 12.5.
We are in the process of installing Oracle Documaker Enterprise Edition, which includes instructions to extend SOA Suite components into the WebLogic domain. The Documaker installation instructions are specific for Oracle Database, so we have some questions about extending the domain using SQL Server as the database.
We found the instructions to move the sqljdbc4.jar to the %WL_HOME%/server/lib folder, and to update the WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH in commEnv to include sqljdbc4.jar. Running the Documaker config.bat member resulted in the MS SQL Server driver not being found for the "Configure JDBC Data Sources". When sqljdbc4.jar was added to the CLASSPATH in the config.bat, "Microsoft's MS SQL Server Driver (Type 4) Versions: 2005 and later" was available for "Configure JDBC Data Sources".
The next step was to "Configure JDBC Component Schema". MS SQL Server was selected as the vendor, and the only Drive available was "*Oracle's MS SQL Server Driver (Type 4_ Versions:7.0 and later".
Does it make a difference that the "MS SQL Server" driver was used to configure the data sources, and the Oracle MS SQL Driver is used to configure the component schemas?
Using the Oracle MS SQL Driver for the component schemas did result in the failure to find the 'master..xp_jdbc_open2" stored procedure, which was resolved by following DOC ID 1679187.1. Following the links it was also discovered that that it was a requirement that the SQL Server be defined as XA. Our SQL Server group indicated the options makes the server open, so they were wondering if all the options listed at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29542_01/install.1111/e13925/troubleshooting.htm#INSOA308 where necessary.
Basically these items:
- Does the sqljdbc4.jar need to be added to any path besides the WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH in commENV?
- Is it okay to use the MS SQL Server driver for the JDBC Data Sources and the Oracle MS SQL Server for the JDBC data components?
- Are the XA steps necessary for the MS SQL Server?
