Blank White Screen Opening ASR Orders after 6.3 Upgrade. "Error 500--Internal Server Error" Refreshing Page. NullPointerException Thrown in ${SERVER}.mss.log, ${SERVER}.log and ${DOMAIN}.log Files

Symptoms

MetaSolv Solution version 6.3.0.b555 running with ASR 54.0.0.b24 and ASR 55.0.0.b84

When attempting to open an ASR order (ASOG version 53), the application displays a blank white screen in the area where the order is expected to open. A "Servlet failed with an Exception" for "java.lang.NullPointerException" is thrown in the mslv01.mss.log. Attempting to refresh the blank white page using CTRL+Right-click > Refresh, displays an "Error 500--Internal Server Error" message. No errors are logged in either of the appserverlog_ASR{VERSION}.xml log files (appserverlog_ASR54.xml and appserverlog_ASR55.xml). Also, the health state of both deployed ASR applications are reported as OK when viewed in the Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console.

Recreation Steps

Query for an ASR order in the Service Request Search window and open the order.

 

Changes

Customers upgrading from 6.2.1 running with ASR 54 and/or installing 6.3 with ASR 54 may experience the problem described in this document.
