Endeca - Unable To Connect To EAC Using SSL (Doc ID 2331032.1)

Symptoms

After enabling SSL communications for all components (Workbench, MDex, EAC),  the EAC admin console  failed to start in Experience Manager.  The error given was Unable to contact EAC central  controller.
