SQL Server Service Will Not Start After Microsoft Update

Information in this document applies to any platform.
After a Microsoft Update, the SQL Server Service won't start.
The SQL Service should run automatically.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Get Microsoft Update
2. Note SQL Server instance is down, check the service and note that it says Not Started
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot use SQL Server.
