CMS Automated Catalog Import Not Updating, or Missing, Products for Search (Doc ID 2341752.1)

When using the Catalog Maintenance Service (CMS) automated catalog import feed to import and deploy catalogs, some or all products are missing from search. Further, manually running CMS and a baseline update appears to workaround the issue for the moment.

Closer analysis may suggest that CMS is not creating records in DCS_PRODUCT_SITES for products that are part of the current deployment.

Unfortunately, logging may not show any errant behavior when this occurs (see below for why).
