Microsoft Project (MSP) XML Exported From P6 Will Not Open in MSProject 2013 or Later (Doc ID 2357885.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to open a Microsoft Project (MSP) XML file in MSP 2013 or MSP 2016 that was created from P6 ,
the following error occurs.

ERROR
-----------------------
An import error occured. The element in the element with = xxxx has invalid data. The calendar name does not exist. Click a calendar in the list, and then press Enter.

Error 2 (after clicking OK on error 1):
There is a problem with the calendar name. The calendar name does not exist. Click a calendar in the list, and then press Enter.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. In P6, export project choosing Microsoft Project XML.
2. In MSProject, choose File>Open>select MSP XML.
3. An import error occurred.  The element <Name> in the <Calendar> element with <UID> = xxxx has invalid data.  The calendar name does not exist. Click a calendar in the list, and then press Enter.
4. Click OK.
5. There is a problem with the calendar name.  The calendar name does not exist. Click a calendar in the list, and then press Enter.
6. Click OK.  
7. No data from the XML imports into MSP.
