Direct Folder Delivery (sub-folder Addressing Using user+folder@domain) Q & A (Doc ID 2358442.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 06, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 8.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Qn1:  It is known that email addresses are case insensitive, but what about the folder portion after the "+", as in the case of direct delivery to a folder? Would user+folder@example.com be different than user+FOLDER@example.com?   It seems to be allowed to create two folders that are the same minus case, for example like "test" versus "Test", so it's not clear if the folder portion is case sensitive?

Qn2:  For direct delivery to a folder to work, it is understood that the 'p' permission must be granted in the mailbox ACL.  But, do you have to grant that to 'anyone' ? Or just the user, or...??

Qn3:  Is there a way to set this ACL automatically? There used to be a parameter called store.defaultacl, but it was removed in Messaging Server 6.3, so curious to know if there is a new way to accomplish this?
