Crew Logoff End Of Shift On Mobile, Shift Remains Active In MWM (11001, 401)

Goal
Crew logs off end of shift successfully on mobile but the shift remains in active state on MWM.
A crew on the hybrid MCP logs off end of shift. This is successful from the MCP perspective and the user closes the application. On MWM however that same shift still shows as active.
A look at the shift update RMI coming into MWM from the MCP shows a status of error. Retrying the message a few times has the same result.
This seems to happen to each crew at least once or twice a week but not every time. Seems very random. Shifts seem to close normally about 75% of the time.
