Can a Member Of a Group Be Auto-deleted When the Contact Is Deleted? (Doc ID 2376904.1)

Last updated on MARCH 27, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Connector for Microsoft Outlook - Version 9.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Using: Outlook Connector 9.0.0.3.0 with Contacts Server 8.0.0.2.0

When a contact is deleted through the Outlook Connector, the contact is not deleted from the group(s) where it belonged to. This leads to some slowness from Outlook, as at each sync, Outlook is trying to look for that member within the Contact Server, but it doesn't exist anymore. This slowness is only noticeable from Outlook; with Convergence everything is fine even if there is still a member which no longer exists in a group.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1) In OC, create a new contact (or use existing contact)

2) Add the contact to a group

3) Delete the contact

4) Check the group and observe the contact is still a member of the group

5) Log out of OC

6) Log back into OC
Observation: Note that Syncing to Contacts may take several minutes. It appears to hang. After a time, OC will load.

Telemetry output shows:

The impact this issue has is that it leads to some slowness from Outlook as at each sync, Outlook is trying to look for that member in the Contact Server whereas it doesn't exist anymore.
