When attempting to upgrade from P6 7.0 SP2 or earlier to 16.2.x on SQL Server, the following error occurs.

ALTER TABLE DROP COLUMN failed because column 'release_id' does not exist in table 'ITERATION'.SQL Query:
declare @default_name varchar(255)
declare @col_name varchar(255)
select @default_name =name from sys.default_constraints where parent_object_id=object_id('ITERATION') and col_name(parent_object_id,parent_column_id)='release_id'
if @default_name is not null
exec ('alter table dbo.ITERATION drop constraint '+@default_name)
ALTER TABLE ITERATION drop column release_id


  1. Execute the 16.2 dbsetup.bat on the 7.0 SP2 SQL Server database.
  2. The process fails with the aforementioned error.
