Ims_master Core Dump While Trying to Open Log_header.opt File (Doc ID 2381568.1)

Using:  Oracle Communications Messaging Server 8.0.2.2.20180130

Ims_master core dumped. The watcher process noticed and restarted the store, as it should, but there were no dequeues from ims-ms after that, until job_controller was manually restarted almost 4 hours later.
It is expected that this is due to this bug:

27466533 ims_master wedge on shutdown when store session lock unavailable

But, why it cored is the main topic here.

There are several possible threads, just from looking at a pstack of the core.  The values in the variables at the time of the crash just do not add up with what we see in the registers of the crashing thread. Looking around other threads:

The above thread is actively trying to open the log_header.opt file.
