Symptoms

When attempting to restore a SQL Server database
the following error occurs.

ERROR

Restore of database 'PMDB' failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTasks)

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Logical file 'PMDB_dat' is not part of database 'PMDB'. Use RESTORE FILELISTONLY to list the logical file names. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)


STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Open SQL Server Management Studio and login as SA or authorized Windows Account
2. Right click on Databases, select Restore
3. Run restore, see message that it failed. Click the Failed message and see Error

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot restore their database.
