ROUND Function Isn't Working As Expected For Specific Numeric Combinations In Oracle Endeca

(Doc ID 2391274.1)

Last updated on MAY 01, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Endeca Information Discovery Studio - Version 3.1.0 to 3.2.0 [Release 3.x]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The ROUND function isn't working as expected for specific numeric combinations in Oracle Endeca Information Discovery Studio platform while creating a customized view via EQL. Basically when two specific combination of numbers are added & further rounded off in Oracle Endeca via EQL, they do not give the expected rounded off result.

Note: This is not a generic scenario and problem is observed only when certain permutation & combination of numbers are considered. For example:

Below are two EQL statements. They should give different results even though they both add up to exact same number

ROUND((2.0764+0.0386),2)
ROUND(2.0774+0.0376),2)

The total of both above statements is 2.115 so the expectation both should return the same result of 2.12. It should noted that in Oracle RDBMS and Excel, the numbers are appearing correctly.
