ERROR: INVALID DATABASE When Connecting Remotely Over VPN

Information in this document applies to any platform.
When attempting to log in P6 Professional Client to a remote database over VPN (Virtual Private Network)
the following error occurs.
ERROR: INVALID DATABASE
The database you are connecting to is not a P6 Professional or P6 EPPM database
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Log in to the P6 client on a machine using VPN to connect to a remote database server.
- See error pop up.
- Log in with the same machine on the office network without VPN, and the database connects without issue.
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot log in to the P6 client.
