Goal

Why can't over quota notifications be followed through the mail.log?

Some users have reported that they have received mail_administrator messages for being over quota, but they look like abnormal messages. There is no record of these messages in the log files, for example, in the mail.log_* log files.

Here is an example of one of these messages:

Subject: Overdraft notice
To: userF.userL@example.com
Dates: Tue, 8 May 2018 12:27:00 +0200
From: Mail Administrator <mail_administrator@example.com>
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text / plain; charset = us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

userF.userL@example.com,

The size of your mailbox has exceeded 90% of the allowed value.
Disk usage: 286MB
Number of messages: 115
