When data with French characters is loaded into a mapping table to table throws an error that the length exceeds maximum value although the data is less than maximum value

Data was loaded into the TPARM_DERI_DSC_TRX mapping table via excel upload. The maximum length of column VAL_CORR_CIBL_1 in the excel upload file was 96 (using french characters). When the batch is executed the connector fails with error ORA-12899: value too large for column "ATOMIC"."C$_3I_6817_FILTER"."VAL_CORR_CIBL_1" (actual: 101, maximum: 100). If I load a record with the same length of 96 with no french characters I do not get the error
