Question on Online Database Maintenance using Online Redefinition To Agile Database (Doc ID 2421634.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 05, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Agile PLM Framework - Version 9.3.6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Is below action supported for Agile Database?

User's need to use the auto mode, means when they are using online redefinition method, structure will be changed.
Structure will be changed (e.g: user will have NOT NULL column stated, after using online redefinition, it will convert to constraint instead)
Will this will bring any impact to Agile application?

Auto mode -
• For non-partitioned table: Online Redefinition (WARNING, structure will be changed)
• For partitioned table: Move Partition Online
• For non-partitioned index: Index Rebuild Online

FYI – Structure will be changed meaning if user will have a “NOT NULL” contribute, it will convert to constraint after online redefinition.
The object ID will be changed as well.

For normal defragmentation, user will be using "alter table move", "shrink" or "DBMS_REDEFINITION.REDEF_TABLE" command.
To accommodate online operation, user's are are trying to schedule a job to perform "DBMS_REDEFINITION.REDEF_TABLE".
User will detect any fragmented table/index and perform the defragmentation using "DBMS_REDEFINITION.REDEF_TABLE".
However, using this command will change the structure.
