Symptoms

When attempting to login to P6 Professional, the following error occurs:

ERROR

Exception EFCreateError in module PM.EXE at 0000000000012D001
Cannot create file c:\prbaddata.txt. Access is denied.

Launching the application as a Windows Administrator results in the prbaddata.txt file being created successfully, and an error similar to the following can be seen in the file:

Bad Data Row for table UDFTYPE
UDF_TYPE_ID = 1766
TABLE_NAME = TASK
UDF_TYPE_NAME = user_field_<XXXX>
UDF_TYPE_LABEL = 80% Start
LOGICAL_DATA_TYPE = FT_DATETIME
SUPER_FLAG = N
INDICATOR_EXPRESSION = (null)
SUMMARY_INDICATOR_EXPRESSION = (null)

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Launch P6 Professional and login.
2. Observe the first reported error.
3. Launch the P6 application "as Administrator".
4. Observe the second reported error.
