Last updated on MARCH 31, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution - Version 6.2.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 6.2.1 version, Network Elements IP Address Field

***************************************************

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------------

MSS users are experiencing IP address format validation issue after pulling IP address from network element.

he logic of reading the IP address is to read 3 characters(including space) as an octet and put a decimal after each octet .However ,the logic  fails to prepare formatted IP address for below sample IP scenarios :

FAILING TEST CASES

IP:XX.YYY.AA.BB (with characters)
XX..YYY.AA.BB (with 2 decimals)
XX.YYY.AAA.0/25 (with slash and range)
:XX.YYY.AA.BB (with colon)
XX,YYY.AA.BB(with comma) etc.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR for the "Mgmt IP Addr:" field on the Network Element screen:

======================================================

The field should only take valid IPv4/IPv6 IP addresses and the same should be stored in the IP_ADDRESS column of the network_node table in the correct format.
If the user enters an invalid IP Address then MSS should not allow and throw an error message .Something like :

"INVALID IP ADDRESS entered"
