Is GlassFish IIOP Listener necessary for the operation of Convergence ?

For security reasons,  there is a push to disable unnecessary ports and to configure necessary ports to accept only TLS 1.2

The default install of GlassFish Server 3 results in there being an IIOP listener running on port 3820 which is showing up in security scans.

Is this necessary for the actual operation of Convergence or can the listener be safely deleted as per Administering IIOP Listeners ?
