USSDGW Doesn't Truncate Messages From Multiple IDs Correctly (Doc ID 2478805.1)

Last updated on MARCH 25, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 6.0.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control (OCNCC) the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) Gateway (USSDGW) provides the interaction using USSD messages between the subscriber's handset and the platform.

In case an USSD message is comprise of multiple messages, USSDGW has a flat truncation, depending on the Data Coding Scheme (DCS) the truncation is at 160 bytes for GSM 7 bit encoding, or 182 characters for UCS-2 encoding.

Truncating the message at 182 can prevent some handsets (older) from displaying the complete message.
