Can "Alter Session" Scripts be Configured to Run for PFT Allocation Rules? (Doc ID 2491141.1)

Last updated on APRIL 12, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Financial Services Profitability Management - Version 8.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Oracle Financial Services Profitability Management (PFT)
Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications (OFSAA)
Oracle Financial Services Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)

Goal

1. In an attempt to optimize the PFT Allocation Rule runs (by controlling session level settings), ALTER scripts were configured in Administration and Configuration -> System Configuration -> Configuration , to run before MERGE statement.

However, it has been noticed these ALTER scripts do not run for Allocation Rules. They are not picked up or executed prior to running Allocation Rules. Since the query created by Allocation Rule also comprises of a MERGE, there was expectation for the scripts to be executed prior to it.

Is there any missing setup?

2. Why is parallelism mentioned on Global Configuration screen? Why are they labeled as "Script executed before MERGE statement"?

These should be application specific preferences, therefore not misleading the product users.

3. What is the alternative to configuring "alter session" statements for PFT allocation rules?

The functionalities provided by FSI_SQL_HINTS_OPTIONS and FSI_PARALLEL_PARAMETERS are restricted and do not support changing other session level settings.
