cursor_sharing Set RDBMS and Demantra Parameter Correctly for Performance (Doc ID 2492866.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 08, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Demantra Demand Management - Version 7.3.1.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Performance issues with SQL plans either formed or chosen.

Changes

cursor_sharing - The default value for cursor_sharing is EXACT.  In a stand alone, Demantra only, install prior to 12.2.6 the parameter should be changed to FORCE for better performance.  BUT if the RDBMS has both Demantra and ASCP/EBS on the same instance AND the Demantra version is prior to 12.2.6, it is recommended to keep cursor_sharing = EXACT.  However cursor_sharing can be set to FORCE usin pro_login if desrired. IF the Demantra version is 12.2.6 and above, CURSOR_SHARING should be EXACT.  For versions 12.2.6 and beyond, Demantra has been adjusted to accommodate CURSOR_SHARING = EXACT both in stand alone and when installed on the same RDBMS with EBS.
