Excel Upload Not Happening in 8.0.x With Spinning Hourglass in UI / Cannot Save New Mapping Template (Doc ID 2494803.1)

Symptoms

Excel Upload is not happening. When trying to perform it, spinning hourglass is displayed in User Interface (UI) with no error message.

Below error message is thrown in one of the Tomcat logs however:

   "Could not connect to SFTP server at "sftp://<user>:<password>@<server>/".] with root cause com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: timeout: socket is not established"

Another issue is that when trying to create a new Excel mapping template, 4408 error is thrown in UI.

ERROR

[4408] Error saving the Excel File or the Excel file is empty

"Could not connect to SFTP server at "sftp://<user>:<password>@<server>/".] with root cause com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: timeout: socket is not established"

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
  1. Go to Unified Metadata Manager
  2. Go to Data Entry Forms and Queries > Excel Upload
  3. Click on Excel Upload
  4. Select an Excel File and Mapping and click Upload
