How to Create Database Alias and Disaster Recovery (DR) RAC for RMS RAC? (Doc ID 2496997.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 04, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Merchandising System - Version 13.2.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Need to change the Real Application Clusters (RAC) scan address name that is present in the data-source connections within the RMS, Oracle Retail Price Management (RPM) and Retail Integration Bus (RIB).

For the JDBC format, jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:service name or SID name, the RAC scan address is placed within the hostname section of the connection string.

If you change that value from, say, xxxxxx-scan, to, say, db-xxxxxxx-scan, does this meet the requirement stated in this document and should not be changed?

Would this be an example where Oracle would recommend doing a reinstall versus a hostname change for the database connection string?
