Impact of Changing Decimal Places of Cost and Retail Fields (Doc ID 2515293.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 16, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Merchandising System - Version 16.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

What is the overall impact of changing Cost/Retail fields to reflect two decimal places instead of 4?

After updating currency_cost_fmt and currency_cost_dec in the CURRENCIES table what other actions need to be carried out on the existing data?

For Example,

- in ITEM_LOC_SOH unit_cost is captured as 10.1234 should you perform rounding of this data and update to 10.12?
- Database column type is of NUMBER(12,4); are there any calculations through the batch or any other scripts that may capture the two decimal calculation to 4 decimal values as the DB column can accommodate four decimal value?

Overall, looking to ensure the consistency in RMS to have two decimal values only for COST.
