What Should be the Best Strategy to Populate Reference Numbers by Users in Item Induction Template (Doc ID 2519105.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Retail Merchandising System - Version 16.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Users are creating items with item number type as Oracle Retail. To generate these numbers from Retail Merchandising System(RMS), users are giving external reference number in induction spreadsheet.

It has been observed that if item induction fails because of inaccuracy in data, the same external reference cannot be used by other users. While the logic of RMS is correct as it expects users to resolve the error by downloading the items from staged tables and process them again.

However, since external reference number is a free text, and multiple users may chose the same reference number, users may enter in the scenario wherein induction template of a user cannot be used by other because of an error in their sheet on the same reference number.

What should be the best strategy to populate reference numbers by users to avoid these issues?
