Consider the following users: User_A, User_C logged on Adium 1.5, and User_B logged on Adium 1.6.

When User_A is available, User_B sees him as 'Away' while User_C sees him as 'Available'.

When User_C is available, User_B sees him as 'Available' while User_A sees him as 'Away'.

Both User_C and User_A see User_B as 'Available' as User_B toggles his presence at login; User_B reconnects as 'Away', and then sets as 'Available'.
