MRP Planned Safety Stock (SS - with buckets/percent) vs Inventory Optimization (IO) Calculated SS

Users have an ASCP plan that includes a demand schedule from IO for Safety stock. They also have a handful of items that they would like to plan using the SS Method with MRP Planned % and setting up the bucket and percentage item attributes. Note that these items are currently generating SS in the IO Plan output. They have not been able to figure out how to get this sort of arrangement set up. IO does not appear to honor the percent and bucket attributes and instead calculates its own SS based on service level, MAPE, and supplier or manufacturing LT variability. Then in the ASCP plan, it appears that again these item attributes are ignored in favor of the IO calculated SS coming from the IO Demand Schedule attached to the ASCP plan.

But is it possible to coax IO to use the days/percent/method instead of its native logic for some items? The business case is that they don't have a good study for the variability on these items/suppliers and would like to set a demand-based SS level while they figure out what they need for the IO side
