Breach Notification Not Getting Triggered Due To Aggregated Thresholds (Doc ID 2542996.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 03, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications BRM - Elastic Charging Engine - Version 11.3.0.6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When subscriber exhausts the bundle, tops up, and exhausts (at least to the 50% threshold) during the same session, the second notification is missed out. However the balances and charges are accurate. Even the subsequent usages, if they are breaching the remaining thresholds within the same bucket will be notified properly.

Below shows the sequence of steps and thresholds generated in ECE and pipeline (for sake of comparison):

In Pipeline:

Consumes 10 mins from current bundle and grants another 60 mins -> notification is created for 100% consumption + Topup of 60 mins
Continue to consume 55 mins from Additional bundle -> notification created for 85% consumption of mins

In Elastic Charging Engine (ECE):

Consumes 10 mins from current bundle and grants another 60 mins -> notification is created for 100% consumption + Topup of 60 mins
Continue to consume 55 mins from Additional bundle -> No additional notification since it is aggregated to the same threshold -> this is the issue.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
In ECE side, it should create notification for 85% consumption of mins from the bundle.

STEPS
-----------------------
1. Customer has 10 mins remaining out of 60 min bundle
       e.g.
          Current Balance : 10 mins
          Thresholds Defined : 50%, 85% and 100% of 60 mins (30,51,60)
2. Make usage/duration for 65 mins
3. Only two notifications created for 100% consumption + Topup of 60 mins, but No additional notification for 55 mints usage [85% one] since it is aggregated to the same threshold
