RTAdapter does not support -debug as specified in Adapters Guide

The Adapters Guide states that the following debug options are available on the command line:

-debug Enable debugging. Other common facility specific debug options are also possible. Common options include:
  -debug RT_NFY 1 # debug for notify messages
  -debug RT_CALC 1 # debug for calculated points
  -debug RT_CTRL 1 # debug for control msg processing
  -debug RT_PROC 1 # debug for outage processing
  -debug RT_WATCH 1 # debug to track high-level activity
  -debug RT_COND # debug for condition processing
  -debug RT_STALE 1 # debug for stale processing

If one of these is used the Adapter responds with:
Args=[RTAdapter -scada RTAdapter -interval 3 -operate -dir RDBMS -process_name RTDBAdapter -retain -debug RT_NFY 1 ]
RTAdapter: too many arguments given.
RTAdapter: too many arguments given.
Usage: RTAdapter [-client_cert] [-cert_file ] [-batchResponse]
  [-offlineDelay ] [-offline] [-process_name ]
  [-no_analogs] [-retain] [-dbname ] [-controls ]
  [-idle ] [-lock] [-watch ] [-debug] [-operate]

  [-delimiter ] -scada
