Messaging Server Is Leaving Processes In CLOSE_WAIT State (Doc ID 2561428.1)

Symptoms

After switching from Solaris to Linux (hosting Oracle Communications Messaging Server 8.0.1.2), it was observed that the number of Messaging Server related connections in 'CLOSE_WAIT' state were increasing over time.

Further investigation revealed that the processes responsible for the CLOSE_WAIT connections were 'tcp_smtp_server' connecting to an external Milter server.

 

Changes

Switched Operating System / platform from Solaris to Linux.
