The Academic Career is an important field in the Academic Structure of a student. The Financial Aid Office utilizes Academic Career to assign documents, budgeting, packaging, reporting, and disbursement of aid. Currently, the SAFI event does not include a student's Academic Career from Campus Solutions.

In order to determine if a student is UGRD vs GRAD vs VMED, we will have to do additional groovy scripting to isolate the Academic Program and/or Academic Plan from the External Program ID in SFP.

There are currently 1235 Academic Plans utilized in Campus Solutions. Additional Academic Plans will be developed as new curriculum are created. Existing Academic Plans maybe retired over time. Based on the dynamic nature of Academic Plans, the maintenance of groovy scripts will become very cumbersome and creates a significant risk as students may not be selected or maybe included in error by SFP processes.

The adding of Academic Career to the External Program ID field will reduce maintenance, better utilized development resources, reduce testing time, and minimize risk.
